Thanks.  I guess I didn't know what keywords to search, but when I copied
and pasted your phrase, "internal and external versions of the same zone,"
into Google, I got a lot of stuff.  

Frankly, I may opt to keep things as they are now, from what I have seen. 
I'll follow up here if I do anything.
