Hi ..
This is my first message to this group. Hope all is doing well.
I have a running DNS slave server that was upgraded recently to BIND 9.2.3.
Everything seems to go well except that im susbecting something im not sure
about.
I tried doing dig to domains, such as yahoo.com and thats what i got
------------------------------------------------------------
# dig NS yahoo.com
; <<>> DiG 9.2.3 <<>> NS yahoo.com
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 8439
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 5, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0
;; QUESTION SECTION:
;yahoo.com. IN NS
;; ANSWER SECTION:
yahoo.com. 165017 IN NS ns5.yahoo.com.
yahoo.com. 165017 IN NS ns1.yahoo.com.

yahoo.com. 165017 IN NS ns3.yahoo.com.
yahoo.com. 165017 IN NS ns4.yahoo.com.

there is no any aditional sections showing IPs for these name servers, as i
think it should have it. So i can be sure that my DNS is resolving domains.
Also when trying dig using another server i got:
------------------------------------------------------------
# dig NS yahoo.com @NS.unc.edu
; <<>> DiG 9.2.3 <<>> NS yahoo.com @NS.unc.edu
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 36928
