MobileIP, you mean the protocol that was standardised in 1996
and that is still not widely deployed on the Internet ? I was working
with Mobile IP in 96-97, I know how it works and its limitations. I
personally have nothing against MobileIP, I like it, I wish I was more
available, but I also live in the real world.
Note also that my proposal *helps* in the case of MobileIP. By
default, dhcp-client will wipe out your resolv.conf every time you do
a DHCP association, which of course is not good for MobileIP. With my
proposal, you can decide if you like that or if you prefer to make
your home DNS server the proper one.
My proposal is not about an alternate to MobileIP, it's about
flexibility and choice when it come to DNS configuration.

It's not "a'la MS". OS-X does it. Linux (most distro) does
it. *BSD probably do it as well. Don't blame the messenger, I did not
create this mess, I'm only trying to fix the problem.
Note that DNS is not really an issue, as it's easily solvable
(and solved in Win32 and OS-X). We could talk about the real issues,
but that's not really relevant to this list.
Have fun...
