Server Fail errors

I recently did a packet trace off of my Primary and Secondary DNS servers and 
noticed that I occationally get a Server Fail (2) response from my Bind 9.2.2 
servers. It mostly happens when my proxy (Novell Border manager) does a query 
for various non-existant dns names out on the internet  (i.e. 
adsvcl.winadex.com). Any ideas?
