Bind 9.2.2rc1 stops responding for some domian...

Very hard to say without knowing what domains are a problem.
The most common reason for problems with BIND 9 and "some"
domains is the delegation for those domains are broken.
Typically the zones own definition of it's own name servers is
broken.
BIND 9 "trusts" the zone definition to be accurate, BIND 8 will
restart queries and so get the delegation information from the
parent servers.
If it were resource related I'd expect it to affect all domains
- - but you can never tell for sure.

I've been running 9.2.2rc1 for a small system for ages and seen
nothing untoward, although I prefer to deploy full releases
unless there is a pressing bug fix.
I think you should start with checking out the zone delegations
- - post the problem zones here if you are unsure.
