No. There is no guarantee that the named binary that's sitting in some
directory is the version that you are actually running. It's a common
occurence that people build new versions but the binary ends up in a
different place than where they thought and they continue to run the
old version. The logs are the only definite location to find out what is
actually running and responding to queries.
