No this is just avoidance of CNAMEs. Use of a CNAME  would
return more data for each query, but would make for less changes
if the host is ever renumbered.

You have to change all three when the IP address changes.

However since you are not suppose to chain CNAMEs, using A
records can also make certain other future changes easier if you
decide then to use CNAMEs for "backward compatibility".
