Routing mail between two domains via an internal route

Yes.  so long as you have a direct link to the other departments check
/etc/mail/mailertable for your sendmail.  It shows you how to do direct
smtp which i think is what you want in this case.  You can even tell it to
deliver directly without doing DNS lookups.
