security lockdown

does anyone know where i can find information on what services i can
disable???

the /etc/services file has a whole mess of things i am afraid to touch...

this is a dedicated dns server...i dont need anything running on it except
bind.

also, i have heard that if i desable the wrong services that i may not be
able to access my machine any longer...

any advice from the pros?
