I've since written this script:

Which gives a much better idea how your DNS server is performing
"perldoc rndcstats.pl" for info and usage syntax.
Basically when you run it, initially do "./rndcstats.pl start", then
after that use "./rndcstats.pl". Pretty simple really.
Anyone that downloaded it before, you might want to grab it again. I've
updated it and fixed a few bugs (details in header).
Output will look something like:
