Ah, right.  That hadn't penetrated to my memory yet.  ;-)

Interestingly, on the HP that is this domain's primary server that
doesn't work.  Same with an older version of Linux.  'dig -help' works
on those and also on those many machines where 'dig --help' works.

I suspect [know] I haven't gone to BIND 9 on the machines where
'dig --help' fails.
