A little more data are needed here. What is the domain from which you
are having a problem? What is the topology? What do you get when you
do a 'traceroute' on the .mil name servers? These are:

	H.ROOT-SERVERS.NET	internet address = 128.63.2.53
	G.ROOT-SERVERS.NET	internet address = 192.112.36.4
	B.ROOT-SERVERS.NET	internet address = 128.9.0.107
	E.ROOT-SERVERS.NET	internet address = 192.203.230.10
	CON1.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.175.234
	CON2.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.173.234
	EUR1.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.154.234
	EUR2.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.143.234
	PAC1.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.180.234
	PAC2.NIPR.mil internet address = 199.252.155.234
	A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET	internet address = 198.41.0.4

What do you get when you do [e.g.] 'dig army.mil @one-of-the-above'?
