Hello
I recently upgraded my Sun box running Solaris 2.6 to Solaris 8.
The server had BIND 4.9.4 running prior to this upgrade. By default the OS
upgrade also upgraded the BIND to 8.2.2 despite
selecting "none" for the name server during the upgrade.
The DNS boot file after the upgrade was still named.boot, but the file being
loaded from the startup file /etc/init.d/inetsvc was
/etc/named.conf. I changed this to /etc/named.boot, but the DNS was still
not running properly.
I resolved to install DNS 4.9.4 from scratch.
This is the error encounter
server# # make install
/tmp/res
cc -O -g -I../include -I../compat/include -DUSE_OPTIONS_H -c herror.c
/usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `herror.o'
Current working directory /tmp/res
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'
Does anyone have a suggestion regarding what I can do next?
Could it be the compiler, and if so what is the recommended?
I'll also like to have a list of command(s) to run for the installation just
to confirm I'm on the right path.
Another thing is, I'd like to know if there's an alternative to retaining
the BIND 4.9.4 version without re-installing from scratch.
TIA
Shola
