Resolving local host names

The point of a search list is to work when you DON'T specify the domain.
So it's *not* working. You need to find out why. If you turn on nslookup's
"debug" or use a real troubleshooting tool like "dig", what queries do you
see being sent out? Failing that, what queries does the server see coming
in (turn on debugging or query logging)?
