Yes. There's nothing that changes between BIND4 and BIND8 in the wire
protocol which defines packet formats. [Why should there be? If there
were any changes, there would be all sorts of incompatibility and
interoperability problems.] You might find that the BIND* name server
is less tolerant about incorrect zone data - like illegal host names,
"wrong" glue, etc - than a BIND4 name server.
