I know with our LINUX boxes (RH 5.2 with BIND 8.1.2) we used something
called RINETD. It was great! You could assign the exchange server a
virtual ip for the internet and have that expternal ip address map to an
internal address...I believe with RH6.0 this RINETD is already built in...

As has been said, NETBIOS = WINS, not DNS
Or use LMHOSTS file on workstations with entry similar to:
192.168.1.1 SERVERNAME #PRE
Save file in windows directory and at prompt type: nbtstat -R to reload name
cache.
