Un-caching bad data?

Is there a way to "force" a DNS server to obtain
an "authoritative" answer? What I mean is, say a
DNS server has bad data in its cache, and the corresponding
TTL was long, can I do anything (other than kill -HUP named,
since I do not have control of that system) to "empty" the
cached data for a particular lookup?
